The Gemini media watermark setting is not showing. Why?
Many guides point to a menu that does not exist on your account. These are the four things that decide whether you see it.
First, which watermark do you mean?
Google puts two different things on the same file. Most of the confusion starts right here.
- The sparkle you can see. The small star in one corner. A setting could switch this one off.
- SynthID. A hidden signal spread across the whole picture. There is no setting for this one. Not on any plan, anywhere. That is the whole point of it.
So if you want to make an image that no tool can mark as AI, no menu will do that. If you just want a clean corner, keep reading.
Four things decide if you see the option
1. Where you generated the image
The Gemini app, the Gemini website and Google AI Studio are different products. They share models, but they do not share settings. A video made in AI Studio will show switches that are simply not in the phone app.
So before you hunt through menus, check one thing. Did the guide you are following use the same place you are in?
2. Your plan
Where an export without the sparkle exists at all, it is usually on the paid plans. Google can change this whenever it wants, and it does. That is why a post from six months ago is a poor guide to what is on your screen today.
3. Your country and your account type
Features arrive in different countries at different times. And a school or office account is controlled by an admin, not by you. So two people on the same plan in the same city can still see different menus.
4. Your app version
The obvious one, and still worth doing. Update the app. Sign out and sign in again. Reload the website properly instead of from cache. Google rolls features out slowly, so two accounts can be on different builds for weeks.
We are not going to give you a menu path. Any list of taps would be wrong within a release or two. Sending people to look for a setting that is not on their account is what made this question so common. Instead, search your settings for the word watermark. If nothing comes up, it is not hidden. It is not there.
What to do when it is not there
Three options, best one first.
- Rebuild the pixels. The sparkle is mixed in at low opacity, so your picture is still under it. The maths can bring it back. No blur, no crop, no loss of size. That is what the tool on this site does, in your browser, free. Full method here: how to remove the Gemini watermark.
- Crop it. Fine when the corner does not matter and the shape does not either.
- Plan for it. If you know the mark lands bottom right, ask for a bit more space on that side. Then cut it off cleanly.
Things that do not work
These come up again and again. None of them help.
- Taking a screenshot. The sparkle is in the pixels, so it is in the screenshot too. SynthID mostly survives a screenshot as well.
- Removing EXIF data. That is a different layer. See what C2PA metadata is. The visible mark does not care.
- Changing the format. PNG to JPG just saves the same pixels again, mark and all.
- Asking Gemini to remove its own watermark. It will say no. And an edit pass would add the mark again anyway.
One honest note
Taking the logo off your own image for a poster, a slide or a print job is normal work. Using a clean corner to pass AI media off as a real photo is a different thing. In many countries you now have to say when something is AI-made. And the hidden signal stays in the file either way.
Questions people also ask
Gemini watermark setting kyun nahi dikh raha?
Usually one of four reasons. You are in a different place from the guide you followed. Your plan does not include it. Your country or office account does not have it. Or your app is an older build. Search your settings for “watermark”. If nothing matches, it is not on your account.
Does a paid plan remove the Gemini watermark?
Where an export without the sparkle exists, it is usually a paid feature. But it varies by app, by country, and Google changes it. And even then, only the visible mark goes. SynthID is added on every plan.
Can I remove the watermark after the image is made?
Yes, the visible one. It is mixed in at low opacity, so the original pixels can be calculated back out. That is very different from blurring or cropping.
