Chat to PDF

Save a ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Grok conversation as a proper PDF — headings, code blocks and lists intact, and the text still real text you can search and copy. Paste a share link, or paste the chat itself.

Do not copy the address from your browser’s address bar. That link (chatgpt.com/c/…) is private — it only ever opens for you, so nothing else can read it. Create a share link instead:

  1. Open the conversation in ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Grok.
  2. Press Share — the icon near the top of the chat.
  3. Press Create link (or Copy link).
  4. Paste that link below. It looks like chatgpt.com/share/….

Why a share link and not the one in the address bar

The address of an open chat — chatgpt.com/c/… — is not a page anyone else can open. It is a pointer into your own account, and it needs your login to mean anything. Paste it anywhere else and the answer is a sign-in wall, or nothing at all.

Share creates something different: a public, read-only copy at chatgpt.com/share/…, frozen at the moment you make it. That is the one this tool can read. Two things worth knowing about it: anyone you send it to can open it and pass it on, and messages you add afterwards will not appear unless you create a fresh link.

How the link is read

A browser is not allowed to read another website’s pages from a script — that rule is what stops any site you visit from rummaging through your other tabs. So a share link is the one feature here that cannot run entirely on your device: this server requests the page and hands it straight back for your browser to turn into a transcript. Nothing is stored and nothing is logged, and only share links from the supported chatbots are fetched at all. It is described in full on the privacy page.

Sometimes the provider says no. ChatGPT and the rest sit behind bot protection that can answer a server with a challenge page instead of the conversation, and Gemini draws its shared chats with scripts that only run in a real browser. When that happens you are told, rather than shown an empty PDF — and Paste the chat gets you the same result without involving the server at all.

Pasting instead

Open the conversation, select it, copy it, paste it. Where the copied text carries speaker labels — ChatGPT writes “You said:” and “ChatGPT said:” — they are used to split it into turns. Where it carries none, the text is kept as one block rather than split at guessed boundaries, because a wrong split reads as the assistant answering itself.

About the PDF

Save as PDF opens your browser’s own print dialog; choose “Save as PDF” as the destination. Going through the browser is deliberate — it is the only way to get a PDF whose text is real text, so it can be searched, copied and read by a screen reader, and the only way Hindi, Arabic, Chinese and emoji come out right without shipping a font for each. Code blocks, lists, headings and quotes are laid out for paper, and page breaks are kept out of the middle of a message wherever possible.

Privacy

Pasted text never leaves your browser. A share link does: the link, and therefore the conversation on it, passes through this server on its way back to you. That is the only part of this site — along with the optional video codec conversion — where anything of yours reaches the server, it happens only when you press the button, and nothing is kept. If you would rather it never happened, use the paste box.
